The third round of the English League Cup is ready to start. Tomorrow, Manchester City, Arsenal, defending champions Newcastle United, and Tottenham Hotspur will all be in action. They are both expected to move on easily because they will each be playing a League One team.
Manchester City ended their winning streak last weekend in the Premier League as they drew 1-1 away at Arsenal.

Huddersfield vs. Manchester City Away
In the ninth season of the League Cup, City played Huddersfield away six times, winning three times and drawing three times. Huddersfield has performed well at home this season, winning five and drawing two of their seven games.
City and Huddersfield have played each other 81 times in the past. City has won 29 times, drawn 30 times, and lost 22 times. The city has not lost in its last eight games against Pep Guardiola’s team. They have won five and drawn three.
The city will be missing defenders Nouri, Kovacic, Cherki, and Murmash due to injuries. Guardiola has decided to rest Erling Haaland, who has scored 13 goals in eight games so far, because Huddersfield isn’t a strong opponent. Instead, Foden, Reijnders, Stones, Aké, Savinho, and young Bobb will start the game.

Arsenal plays Port Vale
Arsenal is also in a similar scenario to City, having just lost one game this season. But Port Vale is doing well; they have won their last two games in a row.
Mikel Arteta is unlikely to field his best team because there is a significant difference in quality between the two teams. Bukayo Saka, who just got better, is likely to play up front with Martinelli. Young prospect Doman and summer addition Nørgaard are both likely to be in the starting eleven.
In the past, the two teams have met 22 times. Arsenal has won 12 times, drawn 6 times, and lost 4 times. Arsenal has not lost in its past nine games, winning four and drawing five.

Newcastle and Spurs Want Easy Wins
Newcastle United, the defending champions, and Tottenham Hotspur, who have won the league four times, will each host a League One team, Bradford City and Doncaster Rovers.
In their Premier League game, Newcastle and Spurs ended in a tie. If both teams have strong rosters in this round, they should easily beat their opponents and move on to the next round together.
