Bayern Munich won 2-1 away at SV Elversberg on 13 September in Bundesliga matchday 3, with Harry Kane scoring the decisive goal in the 72nd minute after Lennart Karl had given Bayern the lead in the 26th minute and Maurice Krattenmacher had equalised for the hosts in the 61st minute.
Bayern had 28 shots to Elversberg’s five and won nine corners to three, though the scoreline remained tight throughout.

Kane, assisted by Aleksandar Pavlovic, converted the winner and spoke afterwards about his first Bundesliga goal of the season. He said that when a player sets himself high standards, going one or two games without scoring naturally becomes a small talking point, but added that he is in good shape, feels motivated and is ready to go.
Karl, who assisted Kane’s opener, made a silencing gesture after scoring and later apologised to Elversberg supporters via DAZN. He said the gesture was purely an emotional reaction in the moment and that he was sorry if it had been misunderstood.
Pavlovic, whose run into the box set up Kane’s winner, explained on DAZN that when Joshua Kimmich covers behind him, he sometimes makes forward runs into the penalty area. He noted that in a double-pivot system he usually takes the more defensive role, but that he and his partner regularly swap positions.
Krattenmacher steals the show briefly
Elversberg’s goal came from 21-year-old Maurice Krattenmacher, a former Bayern academy player who joined the newly promoted Bundesliga side this summer for a reported fee of two million euros. Sky Germany reported that Bayern included a buy-back clause in the transfer.
Krattenmacher had scored three goals in 96 Bundesliga minutes across three appearances before this match. After the final whistle, Bayern manager Vincent Kompany embraced him, and Krattenmacher said Kompany congratulated him on the goal and wished him well for the rest of the season.
Krattenmacher said after the game that Bayern deserved the win but that losing by only one goal made it more painful for his side. He added that Elversberg never felt completely overrun and always believed another chance might come.
Kompany and sporting director assess the performance
Kompany told DAZN that Elversberg were brave in possession and that their goalkeeper played a role unlike most teams would attempt. He said Bayern were satisfied to take the three points because winning there is genuinely difficult, and predicted Elversberg would still collect plenty of points against the strongest sides this season.
On the first half in particular, Kompany said the rhythm was poor and the team did not get into their duels. Sporting director Max Eberl was asked about Luis Diaz, who missed a notable chance with a back-heel attempt. Eberl said Diaz currently lacks a little momentum but that he will eventually rediscover his scoring touch, and joked that as a defender who never scored he is hardly qualified to tell a forward how to finish.
