The club’s announcement read:
“Following mutual agreement, Inter Milan and Simone Inzaghi have decided to part ways. His time at the club will be remembered fondly by fans, players, management, and staff alike, a journey marked by fiery passion, professional excellence, and unwavering commitment.”

Club president Giuseppe Marotta also offered his appreciation:
“On behalf of our majority owners, Oaktree Capital, and the entire Inter family, we sincerely thank Simone Inzaghi for his exceptional service and dedication. His openness and honesty throughout our discussions reflect the mutual respect that has been built over the years. Only those who have truly fought together for victory can part with such clarity and dignity.”

A Legacy of Silverware and Near Misses

Inzaghi leaves behind a decorated legacy. Since taking over in 2021, he guided the Nerazzurri to one Serie A title, two Coppa Italia wins, and three Supercoppa Italiana trophies. Under his leadership, Inter reached two UEFA Champions League finals in three years, a feat unmatched by any recent Inter coach.

Despite failing to lift the Champions League trophy, losing to Manchester City in 2023 and PSG in 2025, Inzaghi remains the most successful Inter manager in terms of win percentage. His teams played dynamic, disciplined football, restoring Inter’s place among Europe’s elite.

A Lucrative Move to Al Hilal: €26M Net Salary Deal

According to multiple reports, including renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano, Inzaghi is now set to sign a three-year contract with Saudi Arabian powerhouse Al Hilal. The deal includes a tax-free salary of €26 million annually, with performance bonuses potentially bringing the total to €30 million, making him one of the highest-paid managers in the world.

He joins the ranks of other Italian managerial icons like Marcello Lippi and Roberto Mancini, both of whom also found massive paydays coaching abroad in recent years.

Not Leaving Alone: Acerbi May Join Him in Saudi Arabia

Sources close to the club suggest Inzaghi plans to bring at least one Inter player with him to Al Hilal, and 37-year-old centre-back Francesco Acerbi is the leading candidate. The veteran defender, a trusted figure under Inzaghi, could offer much-needed experience and leadership as Al Hilal prepares for international competitions, including the FIFA Club World Cup set to take place in the United States later this year.

In an emotional parting statement, Inzaghi said:
“After four incredible years, it’s time for me to say goodbye. I’ve given everything I had to this club. I leave with my head held high and nothing but gratitude for Inter and its fans. This chapter is closing, but I will always carry the club in my heart.”

Simone Inzaghi’s departure marks the end of a golden chapter for Inter Milan, one that brought glory, unity, and pride back to the club. While the Champions League title eluded him, his impact is undeniable. As he embarks on a new journey in Saudi Arabia, fans will watch closely, perhaps even hoping for one more dance under the desert lights.
