Fabrizio Romano has verified that Nelson Semedo is officially joining Fenerbahçe. The Portuguese right-back has already gone to Istanbul to sign his deal with the big Turkish team. Semedo’s time in the Premier League has come to an end after four years of dedicated service with Wolverhampton Wanderers.
“Here we go!” Romano wrote on social media. “Nelson Semedo to Fenerbahçe, deal done. The Portuguese defender is already on his way to Istanbul and will sign the contract with the club directors.”
A Reliable Leader On and Off the Pitch

Semedo joined Wolves from Barcelona in September 2020 and has since played in 182 games for the team. He may not have been the most famous signing at the time, but he slowly became an important person in the dressing room. He was one of the most recognised players at the club because he was always professional, consistent, and a quiet leader.
Semedo has worked for five different managers over the years: Nuno Espírito Santo, Bruno Lage, Julen Lopetegui, Gary O’Neil, and, most recently, Vítor Pereira. Even though things were always changing and hard, Semedo learned and grew. In the 2023/24 season, when the squad needed a leader the most, he wore the captain’s armband.
2023/24: Captain, Warrior, Fan Favourite

Semedo stepped up while Wolves were trying to stay in the Premier League last season. Semedo became the natural leader of the team when Vítor Pereira took over at a time of trouble. He kept the defence steady and was a calming presence on a club that was going through a lot of changes.
People noted how well he played. At the end of the season, his teammates voted Semedo Player of the Season, which shows how much they respected him.
Moments That Will Be Remembered
Semedo was mostly a defender, but he also had some significant moments on offence. He scored three goals while playing for Wolves, the latest of which came against Brentford in the FA Cup in early 2024.
But maybe the most remarkable thing he did wasn’t score a goal, but play in the tightly contested Black Country Derby, when Wolves won away at West Bromwich Albion. That win is still one of the best things that has happened to Wolves fans in recent years.

In May 2025, Semedo played his last game for Wolves at home against Brentford. After the game, he walked up to the South Bank, where Wolves’ most fanatical fans were, and waved at them with real feeling in his eyes. Fans understood it was time to say farewell.
That day, Wolves stayed in the Premier League, and Semedo departed the field not just as a player, but as a club servant who gave it his all.
Wolves Lose a Leader, Fenerbahçe Gain a Champion
The team hasn’t made an official announcement yet, but sources inside the club say that Wolves consider Semedo as “a loyal servant, a model professional, and a leader who represented the values of the club with dignity.”

Semedo is now 31 years old and is starting a new challenge with Fenerbahçe, a team that wants to win in their own country and be important in Europe. Wolves fans are sad to see him go. They lose a dependable defender and a well-liked captain, but they also lose a player who was proud, humble, and strong for four years.
The Wolves fans will remember him not for the showy headlines, but for the substance he brought every day. A new chapter in Nelson Semedo’s football career is coming up in Istanbul.
