The Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA) has officially announced that Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah has been named the 2025 PFA Player of the Year.
This marks the third time in his career that he has received this prestigious award, making him the first player in history to win the honour three times since its inception.

First Player in Premier League History to Claim All 3 Major Individual Awards
During the 2024-25 season, Salah displayed a truly dominant performance in the Premier League. Representing Liverpool, he featured in 38 matches, scoring 29 goals and providing 18 assists.
With 47 goal contributions in total, he set a new Premier League single-season record and played a crucial role in leading the Reds to yet another league title.
In the final PFA voting, Salah edged out strong contenders including Newcastle striker Alexander Isak, Chelsea rising star Cole Palmer, Arsenal midfielder Declan Rice, Manchester United playmaker Bruno Fernandes, as well as his Liverpool teammate Alexis Mac Allister, to claim the award.
Having previously won the accolade in the 2017-18 and 2021-22 seasons, this third triumph cements Salah’s status as the only player in PFA history to achieve such a feat, further solidifying his legendary standing in English football.

Salah: Proud of the Award, Determined to Help Young Liverpool Players Adapt
At the award ceremony in Manchester, Salah lifted the prestigious PFA trophy and expressed his gratitude: “This award belongs to the whole team. Without the support of my teammates, I could not have achieved this. Liverpool is my home, and I want to keep creating more history here.”
He went on to add, “Look at me, a guy from Egypt who has managed to reach the very top level and make history today. I feel extremely proud.”

When asked about the team’s current strength, especially after the summer transfer window and the tragic passing of forward Diogo Jota, Salah admitted with a smile:
“That’s not an easy question to answer. We’ve signed some very talented players, but we also lost some excellent ones. And of course, we all know what happened to one of our teammates.”
“That’s why experienced players like myself need to pass on our knowledge to the new signings. Playing for Liverpool is not easy; there are the pressures of the media and the expectations of the club. Van Dijk, I, and the rest of the squad will do our best to guide and support them.”

Five Liverpool Players Named in Team of the Year
In addition to Salah’s award, Liverpool enjoyed further recognition, with five of their players being selected in the PFA Team of the Year, highlighting the club’s dominance throughout the season.
As the new season approaches, the in-form Salah remains Liverpool’s most reliable attacking weapon. With his leadership and experience, he is expected to continue driving the Reds toward more glory and extending the club’s legacy of success.
