Despite nothing left to prove in the standings, PSG fielded a competitive side and played intensely. Auxerre stunned the home crowd in the 30th minute as Sinayoko opened the scoring, giving the visitors a brief lead. However, PSG hit back in the second half.

Khvicha Kvaratskhelia equalised with a brilliant long-range strike in the 59th minute, before captain Marquinhos headed home from a corner just eight minutes later to put the champions ahead. Deep into injury time, Kvaratskhelia scored again, sealing a brace and a triumphant end to the match. Marquinhos lifted the newly designed Ligue 1 trophy to cap off a stellar campaign.

Dembélé Edges Greenwood to Win Golden Boot

PSG forward Ousmane Dembélé smiles as he lifts the Golden Boot trophy.

The race for the Golden Boot ended in a tie, with both Marseille’s Mason Greenwood and PSG’s Ousmane Dembélé finishing the season on 21 goals. However, Dembélé was awarded the top scorer title due to having scored just one penalty compared to Greenwood’s seven. It marks the 10th consecutive season that a PSG player has won the Golden Boot, a testament to the club’s sustained attacking power.

Although Monaco suffered a heavy 4-0 defeat to Lens in their final match, they retained third place with 61 points, joining PSG and Marseille in qualifying directly for the Champions League.

The battle for fourth place was intense. Nice delivered a statement performance with a 6-0 demolition of Brest, narrowly edging Lille on goal difference to earn a spot in the Champions League qualification playoffs. Lille settled for fifth place and a Europa League ticket.

The upcoming Coupe de France final will decide the final Europa League spot between PSG and Reims.

Lyon, meanwhile, defeated Angers 2-0 to finish sixth and qualify for the UEFA Conference League. However, financial troubles may jeopardise their European hopes, with potential penalties or relegation looming.

Relegation Drama: Le Havre Survive at the Death

Le Havre players

At the bottom of the table, Le Havre staged a dramatic escape. Facing Strasbourg away, they pulled off a last-gasp 3-2 win thanks to an injury-time strike from A. Touré in the 99th minute. That goal lifted them to 34 points, just enough to stay afloat and push Reims into 18th.

Reims will now enter a relegation playoff against Ligue 2’s third-place finisher, Metz, to determine who will play in the top flight next season.

Montpellier and historic club Saint-Étienne were less fortunate. Both finished at the bottom of the table and have been relegated, with Saint-Étienne’s drop marking a bitter chapter in their once-glorious legacy.
