One of the most well-known transfer reporters in the world, Fabrizio Romano, has reported that Liverpool forward Darwin Núñez is on the verge of officially joining Al Hilal, a Saudi Arabian giant.
Following the conclusion of negotiations and the establishment of an agreement, the Uruguayan striker will be leaving Anfield in exchange for a transfer fee of 53 million euros and a contract that will last for three years.
There were earlier estimates that suggested the overall value of the transaction could reach up to €65 million.

Anfield Has Seen A Variety Of Fortunes For Three Years
Benfica paid Liverpool a substantial sum of €85 million to acquire the services of the 26-year-old player during the summer of 2022. Over the course of his career with the Reds, he participated in 143 matches, during which he scored 40 goals and provided 26 assists.
As a result, the team was able to win one Premier League title and one League Cup. His performance, on the other hand, deteriorated throughout the previous season, as he amassed only six goals and six assists across 47 games played.
Despite a campaign that was inconsistent, Núñez managed to regain his form during the pre-season. He demonstrated his offensive prowess once more by scoring a hat trick in a friendly match against Stoke City, which lasted only twenty minutes. In total, he scored five goals in four warm-up matches, demonstrating his ability to score.

There Was Interest Shown By Several European Giants
The Serie A champions Napoli, AC Milan, and Atlético Madrid, who play in La Liga, all indicated a serious interest in signing him throughout the transfer window. Liverpool even rejected a bid of 61 million pounds from Al Nassr, another Saudi club of the same identity, in January of this year.
Despite this, Al Hilal has consistently regarded Núñez as their most desired player, with head coach Simone Inzaghi making a personal request for his signing.

Triple Pay Marks The Beginning Of A New Era In Saudi Arabia
This week, it is rumored that Núñez will make his way back to Liverpool’s training site in order to say goodbye to his teammates. Following this, he will go to Germany for a medical examination with Al Hilal.
The annual pay that he received at Liverpool was 8.33 million euros, but under his new contract, it will grow to 21 million euros, which is a threefold increase.

With Núñez’s arrival, it is anticipated that Al Hilal’s attacking prowess will be greatly enhanced, and the Saudi Pro League will take advantage of the addition of yet another top European striker.
As the league continues to draw football talents from around the world, this move is expected to be one of the most notable transactions that takes place during the summer transfer window in 2025.
