Premier League champions Manchester City have confirmed the signing of Algerian left-back Rayan Aït-Nouri from Wolverhampton Wanderers in a deal reportedly worth €40 million (approx. RM193 million). The 24-year-old defender has signed a five-year contract, keeping him at the Etihad Stadium until the summer of 2030.
Ready to Learn Under Guardiola
Aït-Nouri, who made 41 appearances for Wolves last season across all competitions, contributed five goals and seven assists, impressive numbers for a full-back. Known for his pace, technical ability, and attacking instincts, the Algerian has developed into one of the Premier League’s most promising young defenders since arriving in England from Ligue 1 side Angers in 2020.

Speaking to City’s official channels after completing the move, Aït-Nouri said, “I’m delighted and honoured to join Manchester City. This is one of the biggest clubs in the world, and signing here is a dream come true for me.”
He also expressed his excitement at working under Pep Guardiola, one of the game’s most decorated managers. “I’m looking forward to learning from Pep and his coaching staff, and to training and playing alongside some of the best players in the world. I can’t wait to get started.”
Following Mahrez’s Legacy
Aït-Nouri follows in the footsteps of fellow Algerian star Riyad Mahrez, who enjoyed a highly successful five-year spell at City. Mahrez made 236 appearances, scored 78 goals, and won 11 major trophies, including multiple Premier League titles and the UEFA Champions League.
“I’ve spoken with Mahrez during our time with the national team,” Aït-Nouri revealed. “He told me great things about this club and encouraged me to give everything on and off the pitch. I want to follow in his footsteps and bring more success to City.”

The signing aligns with Manchester City’s strategy of reinforcing key positions with young, dynamic talent, as the club continues to build for both immediate success and long-term dominance. With the departure of João Cancelo and question marks around other full-back options, Aït-Nouri is expected to provide intense competition and depth on the left flank.
City fans will now be eager to see how the recruit fits into Guardiola’s tactical setup, and whether he can make an instant impact as the club looks to defend its Premier League crown and pursue more silverware across all fronts.
