The latest reports suggest that Saudi Pro League club Al-Nassr has submitted an official offer for Chelsea defender Marc Cucurella, which has been made public. However, a trusted transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano, claims the speculation is untrue, stating that no contact has been made between the two sides and that Cucurella remains Chelsea-bound.
“No Offer, No Negotiations:” Cucurella Not Going Anywhere
Taking to social media, Romano clarified the situation:
“Al-Nassr haven’t submitted any offer for Marc Cucurella so far. The player is 100% committed to Chelsea, and there is absolutely no reason for him to leave the club.”
The declaration ends days of speculation that Al-Nassr were seeking the Spanish defender to strengthen their defence. The Saudi club has been connected with several European stars, but Cucurella is not on their radar.
Cucurella Under Contract Until 2028
Cucurella, 26, joined Chelsea from Brighton & Hove Albion in the summer of 2022 for £62.5m, making him one of the most expensive full-backs in football history. The Spaniard first seemed out of place in England, but he has settled very well at Stamford Bridge, playing well at both ends.
The contract of the left-back currently runs until 2028 with Chelsea, and the player has been in good hands after the arrival of the new head coach, Enzo Maresca. With his speed, energy and capacity to help out at either end of the pitch, Cucurella seems set to continue to get playing time for the club next season, when it finally gets underway.
Al-Nassr Remains Active in Europe
While Cucurella could be out of the picture for the time being, Al-Nassr are still searching for options in Europe. The Saudi club have already brought in some big names, such as Aymeric Laporte and Alex Telles, in the last couple of windows and is in the market for further defensive additions.
The Saudi Pro League’s financial power and premium payments have attracted many top-tier players in recent seasons. Even so, stealing a key player from a Premier League giant like Chelsea, especially one with a long-term contract, is a different story.
Currently, Marc Cucurella does not allow himself to discuss a potential transfer to another club and is focusing on Chelsea. With a long summer of pre-season underway and the new Premier League season looming, his short-term goal is to fight for a place to help improve on a harder second term at Stamford Bridge.
