Tottenham Hotspur have now made an official request to Real Madrid to negotiate directly with Brazilian winger Rodrygo Goes, reports Spanish outlet AS. The North London outfit is keen to secure the 23-year-old’s services this summer and is currently trying to persuade the player, as well as discuss a reduced transfer fee.
Rodrygo’s Future in Limbo as Playing Time Dwindles at Real Madrid

Rodrygo’s future at the Bernabéu remains uncertain after Xabi Alonso’s appointment. Formerly a key member of Real Madrid’s squad, the Brazilian has become peripheral, and sources tell TVE that he may leave to secure more playing time.
Real Madrid, meanwhile, are open to selling. Rodrygo is a player seen as a potential cash cow for the club to fund additional reinforcement, and he could truly be on the way out this summer.
Tottenham Eager but Strategic, No Blank Cheques
Tottenham have spent roughly €150 million this summer, demonstrating their intentions under new coach Thomas Frank. Spurs believe Rodrygo might be the next piece in their summer makeover, a statement purchase that demonstrates their commitment to returning to — and possibly surpassing — the Premier League’s top four.
However, the shrewd businessman and club chairman, Daniel Levy, has his limits. Real Madrid want a fee of €90M to part ways with Rodrygo, but Tottenham are reluctant to pay that sum outright.
According to sources close to the negotiations, Tottenham have two options: give Madrid what they want but offer Rodrygo less, or pay the player what he wants, understood to be over €10m net a year, if Madrid lowers their asking price. Top-tier fees and salary were banned.

Tottenham regard Rodrygo as so much more than a marquee signing. Amid increasing doubt over the long-term prospects of Son Heung-min, in particular after the South Korean suggested he may like to head to the MLS, Rodrygo is being primed as the new figurehead of Spurs’s frontline.
At 23 with Champions League experience and untapped potential, Rodrygo is an ideal addition for a young team prepared to shape and build a dynamic, future-proof frontline.
Spurs Take the Lead as Premier League Rivals Step Back

The clubs of Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool were initially monitoring Rodrygo. But with those interested parties having turned their attention elsewhere, Tottenham are suddenly in a strong position, possibly unchecked, in their pursuit.
Rodrygo remains in Madrid awaiting a resolution. He is ready to depart, but insiders indicate he wants to choose his next move. His camp, the club, and incoming manager Mario Berra are expected to resume talks during pre-season training.
Crunch Time Approaches as Transfer Deadline Nears

And with the transfer window just weeks away from slamming shut, the clock is ticking. All eyes have now shifted to talks between Spurs and Real Madrid as Levy tries to pull off one last mega signing before deadline day.
Should Tottenham pull this off, not only would it be a brilliant squad addition, one of Europe’s most promising wingers no less, but it would also send a statement through the division: Spurs are back and they mean business.
