Jadon Sancho would be open to returning to England, but not with a club that negotiated an agreement to sign him and ultimately backed out on Sunday. The Sancho saga is not over yet.
According to Berger, Borussia Dortmund have not entirely closed the door on Sancho, and they are still in communication with the player. Importantly, Sancho is reportedly “very open” to a return to Germany, where he is believed to have had the best stint of his career. Reports suggest that personal terms are often thought to be easy to overcome in negotiations once they begin to develop.
United Asking Price Within Reach

Manchester United are said to have put an alleged price tag of €18-€20 million, which is absolutely within Dortmund’s financial scope. That represents a sharp decrease from the €85m United spent in 2021, indicating the Red Devils’ desire to sever ties with the player following a troubled few years.
While Sancho is under serious consideration, he’s not Bayer’s first priority in the transfer window, that being their proposed move for United’s star midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan. The club is considering other options and studying alternative targets before making its final decision.
Loan Spell at Chelsea Showed Glimpses of Quality

The winger was sent out on loan to Chelsea last season after losing his place under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at Old Trafford. He played 41 games in all competitions, starting 26, and scored 5 goals and provided 9 assists. A long way from a breakthrough season, but a return to the sort of form that once made him one of Europe’s most promising young wingers.
According to Transfermarkt, he has a market value of €28 million and is under contract to Manchester United until June 2026.
Back to Where It All Began?
One thing is clear: Sancho was phenomenally good at Borussia Dortmund between 2017 and 2021. He had 38 goals and 51 assists in 104 appearances in the Bundesliga. He was also a lynchpin in Dortmund’s attack and soon became a fan favourite.
His successes there ultimately led to his splurge move to United, but things never quite worked out for him at Old Trafford. Injuries, a poor team fit, and off-pitch problems with management hindered his progress. A move back to Dortmund, he now has a chance to rediscover his form.

Although the two sides have an interest and the price tag is reasonable, nothing is a done deal. Dortmund are still mulling over whether or not Sancho has a role to play in their future, and with other targets in their sights, they’re being careful.
But, should things go to plan, we could have a fan favourite back in Tigerland.
