In the latest match of the Premier League Summer Series, Manchester United shook off their past struggles against Bournemouth with a commanding 4-1 victory, marking a rare and much-needed win.
Notably, United’s €74.2 million summer signing, Matheus Cunha, was not named in the starting eleven and watched the game from the sidelines.
United wasted no time asserting its authority. Just eight minutes in, Dorgu delivered a pinpoint cross from the left, and Højlund shrugged off his marker to head home, giving United a 1-0 lead through a Danish connection.

Dorgu Shines with Goal and Assist
In the 25th minute, Mount lofted a clever pass behind the defense for Dorgu, who calmly slotted the ball past the keeper, adding a goal to his earlier assist and doubling United’s lead. Bournemouth appeared to pull one back in the 29th minute, but the goal was ruled out for offside.
Early in the second half, at the 53rd minute mark, Højlund caused chaos in the box, and Diallo capitalized with a close-range finish to make it 3-0.
At the 71st minute, Amorim made sweeping substitutions, giving several academy players a chance. Just a minute later, 19-year-old Williams made an instant impact, cutting inside and scoring at the near post to extend the lead.

Late Own Goal Seals the Scoreline
Late in the game, Bournemouth’s De Ligt inadvertently turned the ball into his net, sealing a comprehensive 4-1 win for United.
The Premier League Summer Series features four clubs: Manchester United, Bournemouth, West Ham, and Everton. United previously beat West Ham 2-1 and now add another three points against Bournemouth, topping the standings with six points and securing the title ahead of schedule.
In contrast, Everton remain at the bottom after back-to-back defeats to West Ham and Bournemouth.
In the final round, Manchester United will face Everton, while West Ham will play Bournemouth. However, United have already clinched the championship thanks to superior head-to-head results.

A Promising Sign for the New Season
This win not only ended Manchester United’s losing streak against Bournemouth but also confirmed the positive progress made under manager Rúben Amorim. With Hojlund’s consistent threat up front and young stars like Dorgu and Williams making their mark, United showed a well-balanced and energetic style of play.
As new signings gradually integrate and team chemistry continues to improve, Red Devils fans have every reason to look forward to a triumphant return in the upcoming season.
