Saka’s Early Strike Secures Arsenal 1–0 Away Win Over Brighton

In a key match of Premier League Round 29, Arsenal travelled away to face Brighton. Thanks to an early goal from Bukayo Saka, Arsenal secured a narrow 1–0 victory, earning valuable three points. 

The win allows Arsenal to maintain their lead at the top of the table and extend their advantage to 7 points over Manchester City, although Arsenal have played 1 match more.

The match began with high intensity and immediate pressure from both sides. In the 3rd minute, Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya made a mistake while playing the ball out from the back, allowing Brighton’s Carlos Baleba to intercept possession. 

Baleba quickly attempted an audacious chip toward the empty net, but Arsenal defender Gabriel Magalhães reacted quickly and cleared the ball off the goal line, preventing an early setback for the visitors.

Saka Breaks the Deadlock for Arsenal

Arsenal took the lead in the 9th minute. Jurrien Timber advanced down the right flank and delivered a pass to Saka. 

After receiving the ball, Saka cut inside to evade his marker before unleashing a powerful shot from the edge of the penalty area. The ball took a slight deflection and bounced off the goalkeeper before finding the back of the net, giving Arsenal a 1–0 advantage.

In line with the goal, the game shifted into an intense midfield battle. In the 11th minute, Mosquera was shown a yellow card for a defensive foul. 

Later, in the 29th minute, Arsenal earned a free kick from the left side of the attacking third. Declan Rice delivered a curling effort that looked part cross and part shot, but the ball narrowly sailed over the crossbar.

Second Half Battle as Arsenal Hold Their Lead

After the break, Brighton increased their attacking pressure, forcing Arsenal to rely more heavily on their defensive structure. 

In the 58th minute, Brighton created a dangerous opportunity when Georginio Rutter fired a powerful volley from the edge of the penalty area. However, goalkeeper Raya produced an excellent save to keep Arsenal’s lead intact.

Arsenal made tactical adjustments in the 59th minute, with manager Mikel Arteta substituting Gabriel Martinelli and Gyökeres, bringing on Kai Havertz and Leandro Trossard to strengthen the attack.

In the 61st minute, Brighton winger Simon Adingra Minteh drove down the flank and delivered a low cross into the penalty area, but Arsenal’s defenders managed to clear the danger in time.

Crucial Three Points Keep Arsenal on Top

As the match entered its closing stages, Arsenal continued to search for a second goal. In the 76th minute, a series of passes led to Timber setting up Trossard inside the box, but the Belgian forward’s shot went wide.

In the 88th minute, Havertz managed to beat the offside trap and went through on goal, only to see his tight-angle attempt saved by Brighton’s goalkeeper. Deep into stoppage time in the 95th minute, Ayari pushed Havertz from behind and received a yellow card.

The final whistle confirmed Arsenal’s 1–0 victory over Brighton, securing an important three points. Meanwhile, title rivals Manchester City were held to a draw, allowing Arsenal to extend their lead at the top of the table to seven points.

With the season entering its decisive phase, this win places Arsenal in an even stronger position in the race for the Premier League title.
